Making it easier to eat healthy food in Telford

If you’re based in Telford, we’d love to hear your ideas about how to make it easier to eat healthy food in your neighbourhood.
People have told us that “local shops don’t sell much healthy food and what they have is very expensive. The only option is to spend more money to travel to bigger supermarkets.”; “Waiting lists for allotments are long.” "Cost is a barrier to people buying healthy food. It’s cheaper to buy a multipack of crisps than a piece of fruit for everyone in the family".
At Shropshire Good Food Partnership we believe that healthy food is a human right and we’re exploring how to increase food resilience so that everyone can access nutritious food every day and that we grow more food locally.
Local community food organisations like Brookside Community Pantry, NotJUST Surplus, Dawley Community Garden and Telford Crisis already provide nutritious food at a low cost. We’re developing a project that will support the fantastic work that they do and create more opportunities for people to grow, cook and share food.

Please get in touch with Katy Anderson at katy@shropshiregoodfood.org to get involved or to be kept up to date about the project.
