An initiative of the Shropshire Good Food Partnership, with support from Partners Kadai and the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, the Good Food Trail has launched for 2026 and runs through the school summer holidays.
The trail was inspired originally by the Somerset Food Trail and has grown and developed year on year to over 150 participating venues that uphold the mission of a better food system for Shropshire. This year, in addition to our online directory, we are telling the story of food in in a new way: through the publication of ‘Abundance’, the Shropshire Good Food Partnership’s magazine.
The launch of a Shropshire Good Food Magazine is a quarterly digital dispatch with more in-depth material communicating the inspiring stories of our county’s food system. This first issue features our Shropshire Good Food Trail, partnered with Kadai and with the support of members and partner organisations.
“We hear over and over again just how important storytelling is... That people need good news and examples of what is possible to inspire community action. We’re told that people want to support local farmers, but don’t know where to shop locally. We want to share this in a way that people can sit down with a cuppa and enjoy.”
-Emma Cantillion, Shropshire Good Food Partnership Coordinator for Telford & Wrekin
The Good Food Trail has always been about showcasing what’s happening on our doorstep. That includes celebrating great produce and where shoppers can find it, hospitality businesses that source locally, and shining a light on our farmers. And more and more it’s about highlighting the importance of local food resilience: knowing what is growing around us, climate-forward land stewardship on farms and community growing initiatives.
“We want people to see what we see working as the Food Partnership - how abundant and vibrant our county is, how forward-thinking our producers are, and how innovative our communities can be when creating solutions.”
-Daphne Du Cros, Shropshire Good Food Partnership Lead
With a visitor economy topping over a £1bn (2025), the potential for growth in Agri-Tourism is an important area for the County. Through our partnership with the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, the Good Food Trail is now featured on the newest edition of the Shropshire Hills Visitor Map, telling the story of how our national landscape links with food and farming, water and biodiversity and to feel more connected to the stories of Shropshire’s abundant land.
Printed copies of Abundance Magazine are available by request.
